The Way PDO & Preschool is a faith-based early childhood education center dedicated to fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged six weeks to five years old. Our curriculum integrates biblical values with hands-on learning, covering subjects like science, math, social-emotional skills, and physical education. We are committed to helping children develop spiritually, socially, and academically in a Christ-centered setting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide support on an as-needed basis when lead and assistant teachers are unavailable. The ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable, and passionate about early childhood education. This role requires maintaining classroom routines, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring a smooth transition in the absence of regular teachers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans and classroom activities as provided by the lead teacher.
  • Foster a positive, structured, and faith-centered learning environment.
  • Supervise and engage children in activities that support social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain classroom order and routines while ensuring student safety and well-being.
  • Provide support and direction to classroom assistants, if applicable.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents about daily activities and student behavior.
  • Follow all school policies, safety guidelines, and childcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an early education or childcare setting.
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom guidelines.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work on short notice when needed.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a faith-based preschool or private school setting.
  • Familiarity with play-based and structured learning methodologies.
