The Way PDO & Preschool is a faith-based early childhood education center dedicated to fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged six weeks to five years old. Our curriculum integrates biblical values with hands-on learning, covering subjects like science, math, social-emotional skills, and physical education. We are committed to helping children develop spiritually, socially, and academically in a Christ-centered setting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support our Lead Teachers in creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and passionate about early childhood education. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, providing one-on-one attention to students, and helping maintain a positive, faith-based atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Support children in learning through hands-on play, crafts, and interactive lessons.
  • Provide individualized attention to students to foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
  • Encourage and model positive behavior, social skills, and teamwork.
  • Help set up and clean up classroom activities, ensuring a structured environment.
  • Communicate with parents and staff about student progress and needs.
  • Follow all school policies, safety guidelines, and childcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or early education setting preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a faith-based environment and model Christian values.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a faith-based preschool or private school setting.
  • Familiarity with play-based and structured learning methodologies.
