10 Reasons Church Preschools are Better

Want to give your children the best head start possible? Consider enrolling them in a church preschool. Here's why it just might be worth looking into.

It's no secret that preschool is important.

I mean, it lays the groundwork for everything else you do in school and life. So why not choose a preschool that has been shown to make your child more likely to succeed?

A church preschool! That's right; churches are popping up all over the place with their own programs for kids as young as two years old. And the research shows they just might be better than traditional preschools at helping children reach their full potential. Here are ten reasons church preschools may be worth looking into:

1) They have smaller class sizes

Smaller class sizes allow teachers to give each student individualized attention and provide less distraction from other students, making learning easier.

There are only about 16 kids per class at most church preschools, which is a massive difference from the 36 students in a typical public school classroom.

A smaller class size ensures that your child will get personalized instruction and the one-on-one attention that is so important for their development.

2) They teach Bible stories and morals.

While the world may differ on religious views, they all agree that the Bible is full of stories about morality and the battle of good vs. evil.

At church preschools, children are taught the Bible stories and biblical morals by engaging in various activities such as games, crafts, and lessons.

Being exposed to these values at an early age can give them a head start they need when it's time for college or even just life in general.

Armed with these critical life skills of being a good person, young children leave preschool and head out into the world with values that are sure to last a lifetime.

3) They teach students how to learn from their mistakes.

It's been proven that the best way for a child to learn is from their mistakes. In a traditional classroom setting, mistakes are often met with punishment and embarrassment.

At church preschools, teachers teach children how to learn from their mistakes by providing lots of space for them to play and explore independently, allowing them the chance to make new discoveries every day.

The best way for your child to grow is through trying new things and confronting new challenges.

Church preschools teach kids that it's okay to make mistakes, but what you do after a mistake is even more important--learning from the experience and trying again.

4) They have a strong sense of community.

People do not thrive in isolation. According to the American Psychological Association, social isolation can be detrimental to our physical and mental health.

Church preschools provide a strong sense of community for children because they are surrounded by lots of other kids their own age, moms, dads, teachers--a whole group of people who care about them.

The children have their social and emotional needs met with individualized instruction and group activities specifically designed for their age and learning level.

This is a nurturing environment where your child can grow in knowledge and faith while feeling loved and wanted.

5) They teach life skills.

From tying shoelaces to cleaning up after themselves, church preschools are good at teaching kids self-reliance.

This is invaluable in a world where kids are constantly relying on adults for everything.

Church preschools teach life skills and values like kindness and patience, which will help children not just now, but well into adulthood.

The more they learn these skills as children, the less stressed out parents can feel about it later on down the road.

Plus, the more they learn, the more eager they'll be to help out around the house.

6) They have warm and inviting environments.

With a bit of love and attention, church preschools are excellent at making the kids feel welcome.

A welcoming environment is an excellent place for your child to thrive.

Church preschools are warm and loving places where children can make friends, learn new things, and explore freely--all while being loved unconditionally by the teachers and parents around them.

These loving environments provide an excellent way for young kids to develop their social skills by interacting with other children their age.

7) They are a good place for parents to connect with other families in the community.

Church preschools offer great opportunities for all members of the family.

Whether you've recently moved to the area or a long-time resident of your city, church preschools are places where you can meet new people and make connections.

The relationships built at church preschools will last long after your child has graduated from there, providing a solid support system for years to come.

Here at the Way PDO and Preschool, we get frequent visits from former students and their parents. Sometimes they just stop by to say hello; other times, they bring us gifts and our favorites - sweets!

Church preschools are one of those rare places where you can feel like part of a community while giving your child an incredible start in life.

8) They are good for parent-child bonding.

Church preschools always have activities for the children that involve their parents. Whether it's take-home activities or functions at the preschool like daddy-daughter dances or mommy and me playdates, children always have fun, and parents are involved.

This is an excellent way for children to grow up with strong relationships with both their parent(s) and the other adults in their life who care about them.

Church preschools provide an opportunity for your child to learn that they are part of something bigger than themselves--that there's always someone who will be there for them.

 9) They teach kids the basics

Church preschools do a great job teaching language and math skills, two of the most crucial foundation subjects.

According to a recent study by W. Steven Barnett and Colette M. Escobar of the Early Intervention Research Institute, "Students who had attended preschool demonstrated statistically higher overall school readiness, higher Physical scores, and higher Personal scores than students who did not attend preschool."

Although this study doesn't directly compare church preschools vs. secular ones, it does demonstrate the importance of some preschooling.

And last but not least:

10) They're affordable!

Church preschools provide families with an opportunity to give their children a strong start in life for about half what it would cost at a secular preschool.

And as parents, we know a high-quality education is worth every penny!

So what are you waiting for? Give your child the gift of excellent education by enrolling them in church preschool today.

And, church preschools are not limited to just Christians either! There is room for all religious sects, including Catholics (who might be surprised at the number of Catholic churches with their preschool programs), Jews, Muslims, and Hindus.

Church preschools don't try to convert people or push their religion on kids, but they do teach morals and community.

Church preschools don’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin. Unlike some traditional preschools, church preschools admit students of any race, religious belief, or economic standing.

Church preschools are the perfect mix of faith-based learning with a focus on academic skills that will help your child grow into an adult who is confident in their abilities to succeed!
